Terrible Door
03:09
|
|||
On the morning I woke up only to find
Your body gone cold in the bed next to mine
I called out to God, and I asked for a sign
I guess that's probably the oldest line
No sign came down, at least none I could see
So I got out of bed and I called the police
And they came right over and they took you from me
Now I'm wandering this house begging to be set free
And I can't lie down in this bed anymore
It feels like it's become some terrible door
But now that you're gone, now that you died
I keep hoping there's something on the other side
The doctors dug into you just to see
What they could find, they called it an autopsy
The wrote a report, organized nice and neat
And they sealed it up and they sent it to me
I read it twice, just to see what went wrong
But "Aneurysm" is just a Nirvana song
Did I miss the signs I should've seen all along?
I guess it don't matter, now that you're gone
And I can't lie down in this bed anymore
It feels like it's become some terrible door
But now that you're gone, now that you died
I keep hoping there's something on the other side
Please let there be something on the other side
God, I hope there's something on the other side

Woke Up In Heaven
02:42
|
|||
When I woke up in heaven, it was a surprise
It seemed like I'd just barely closed my eyes
In bed next to you
I didn't know what to do
'Cause you are my heaven, you're all that I need
And wherever you wander, I'll follow your lead
Now I've lost my way, and I can't hardly see
How to get to my heaven, where I wanna be
I met Old St. Peter, he welcomed me in
He said that I'd been washed clean of all of my sins
He said "Welcome home"
But I still felt so alone
'Cause you are my heaven, you're all that I need
And wherever you wander, I'll follow your lead
Now I've lost my way, and I can't hardly see
How to get to my heaven, where I wanna be
I said "This is lovely, and thanks just the same
But you took my way too early and ain't it a shame
My time hasn't come
So I'd like to go back home"
"'Cause he is my heaven, he's all that I need
And wherever he wanders, I'll follow his lead
Now I've lost my way, and I can't hardly see
How to get to my heaven, where I wanna be"

Ice Cream
02:53
|
|||
The ice cream has melted
You left it on the counter
You're gone now, and I know
Nothing will last forever
Nothing will last forever
Nothing will last forever
And I, I'm all alone now
And I don't know where I'm going
Without you
The dishes are piled up
They recall our last supper
I can't bear to wash them
Nothing will last forever
Nothing will last forever
Nothing will last forever
And I, I'm all alone now
And I don't know where I'm going
Without you
And I, I'm all alone now
And I don't know where I'm going
Without you

Learning To Fly
03:39
|
|||
Picture me, arrayed all in black
With shiny feathers up and down my back
And I'm outside your window and I'm calling your name
Even though I know you can't understand what I say
And I'm so afraid that you will never see me at all
And it turns out that learning to fly ain't like learning to fall
And I hope that somehow you will feel when I'm flying above
And if not then I hope that you will sense I'm sending you my love
Picture me in a field of green
And I'm standing on the shoulders of something
Something that's meant to scare me away
But I'm right outside our house and here I will stay
And I'm so afraid that you will never see me at all
And it turns out that learning to fly ain't like learning to fall
And I hope that somehow you will feel when I'm flying above
And if not then I hope that you will sense I'm sending you my love
When I went to heaven, I finally got my wings
But no halos, harps or golden crowns
Not those heavenly things
Even now, I'm still no angel
I'm not dressed in long white robes
They sent me back all dressed in black
To love you as a crow
And I'm so afraid that you will never see me at all
And it turns out that learning to fly ain't like learning to fall
And I hope that somehow you will feel when I'm flying above
And if not then I hope that you will sense I'm sending you my love

Nevermore
02:22
|
|||
Seems like I haven't slept in days
It's like some kind of nightmare, I can't get away
There's a blackbird right outside my door
Seems like it must be there to tell me "Nevermore"
Nevermore will I see you
Nevermore will I hold you
Nevermore will you tell me that it's okay
Seems like this bird won't go away
It's been outside our house for six or seven days
It's watching me like we have met before
But all it seems to say is "Nevermore, nevermore"
Nevermore will I see you
Nevermore will I hold you
Nevermore will you tell me that it's okay

As The Crow Flies
02:24
|
|||
As the crow flies, I will be with you wherever you are
As the crow flies, I'll stay beside you, no matter how far
And if you go driving out into the city
And get stopped by those traffic lights
I'll perch on the power lines over your head
Or just circle above you in flight
As the crow flies, I will be with you wherever you are
As the crow flies, I'll stay beside you, no matter how far
And if you go walking out into the forest
And wander away from the trail
I'll be your compass and I'll be your guide
And I'll lead you home without fail
As the crow flies, I will be with you wherever you are
As the crow flies, I'll stay beside you, no matter how far

Dreaming of Ravens
02:34
|
|||
I fall asleep on the sofa
I wake up on the floor
Seems like half of this house is a country
Where I'm not allowed anymore
And I keep dreaming of ravens
I keep dreaming of crows
They're leading me to a safe haven
They're taking me where I should go
I fall asleep to the TV
I wake up in the dark
Even with no lights, everywhere I look
Is somewhere where you've left your mark
And I keep dreaming of ravens
I keep dreaming of crows
They're leading me to a safe haven
They're taking me where I should go
I fall asleep as a widow
I wake up still alone
The emptiness in me, and all around me
Is cutting me straight to the bone
And I keep dreaming of ravens
They remind me of someone I know
Are you leading me to a safe haven
Are you showing me where I should go

Birdwatching
02:38
|
|||
I've been perched outside your window pane for such a long, long time
That I don't recall when I died
You've been hiding on the other side for such a long, long time
That it seems you're trapped inside
Did you notice me? Did you notice me?
Seems I saw you look my way
You're birdwatching today
When you slowly raised that window glass, I was perched here on the ledge
I was not sure my legs could stand
I saw you smiling from inside the house as I perched on the ledge
And slowly you held out your hand
Did you notice me? Did you notice me at all?
Seems I saw you look my way
You're birdwatching today

Fly Away
05:12
|
|||
Sometimes I wanna die
So I can be with you again
Sometimes I wonder why
This blackbird is my only friend
And I'm telling my troubles to this bird by my window
It seems to know just what I say
Sometimes I wish I could become a blackbird
I'd spread my wings and fly away
Sometimes I wanna cry
'Cause I can't leave this all behind
Sometimes I wonder why
This blackbird brings you to my mind
And I'm telling my troubles to this bird by my window
It seems to know just what I say
Sometimes I wish I could become a blackbird
I'd spread my wings and fly away
Sometimes I wanna fly
So I could meet you in the air
And I would love you in the sky
And we could live forever there
And I'm telling my troubles to this bird by my window
It seems to know just what I say
Sometimes I wish I could become a blackbird
I'd spread my wings and fly away

Status Crow
03:14
|
|||
When I asked to be a crow
Little did I know
That my love was beside me all along
And when I finally took wing
And I heard my baby sing
Then I knew I was right where I belong
Status crow, status crow
We go where we wanna go
Ovid ain't got nothing on you and me
So together we will fly
And we both can never die
You and I, together eternally
We're just a kindly murder of crows
We go where the wind blows
And we know we have flown out of the dark
And we nest in some old tree
And finally we're free
You can see us flying through the park
Status crow, status crow
We go where we wanna go
Ovid ain't got nothing on you and me
So together we will fly
And we both can never die
You and I, together eternally
