Broken Window
02:22
|
|||
Sometimes it takes a broken window to let the sunshine in
I know the weather's getting colder, but we've got blankets for the wind
And there's nothing wrong that can't be undone someday
Yeah, there's nothing wrong that can't be undone someday
And when the sunlight starts streaming in, flowers turn their heads to see
And we can crawl out of the darkness, squinting, blind, but now we're free
'Cause there's nothing wrong that can't be undone someday
Yeah, there's nothing wrong that can't be undone someday
No, there's nothing wrong that can't be undone someday
Now there's something wrong, it'll be undone someday

Snowglobe
04:08
|
|||
I'm protected from the outside world inside my little dome
There's plastic trees in my front yard beside my tiny home
And I'm living under water, so I always hold my breath
I've been shaken up so many times now I have nothing left
Snowglobe
The weather's terrible down here, it moves from bad to worse
Snow's piled high on everything, the earth quakes, it's dispersed
Then it snows for 'bout an hour, then it's piled high once again
And it's just like how it started and the cycle never ends
Snowglobe
I don't know how I got here, I don't recall anything else
When I look outside my glass dome, there's more just like it on the shelf
Snowglobes
Once I had a girl here, she kept me warm out of the cold
But she grew tired of our lives here, it's a story often told
So she left our little snowglobe to go and ride the model trains
And I'm left here all alone now where the water never drains

Army of Ghosts
02:54
|
|||
The light's crawling quietly across the cold carpet
It's passed through the double-panes windows and blinds
It's moving so slow like a small, ghostly army
Approaching my bed in perfect parade lines
And I don't know the age of the old rock of ages
'Cause I don't ask no questions of heavenly hosts
But when the shadows move in and the leaves turn like pages
It's just like a slow marching army of ghosts
And the static-y speakers on this old record player
Are sharing some secrets I don't wanna know
And it's funny how static on old televisions
And crystalized rainfall, we call 'em both snow
And I don't know the age of the old rock of ages
'Cause I don't ask no questions of heavenly hosts
But when the shadows move in and the leaves turn like pages
It's just like a slow marching army of ghosts
Milk leaks from the bottle and drips to the counter
And flows across the kitchen in a pasty white flood
It's like an invisible army is passing
And dragging their wounded and dripping their blood
And I don't know the age of the old rock of ages
'Cause I don't ask no questions of heavenly hosts
But when the shadows move in and the leaves turn like pages
It's just like a slow marching army of ghosts

Firetree
02:55
|
|||
A river runs through Townsend like that red blood flows through me
And in the fall when it all starts dying, I go to the firetree
And I bring my disappointment, my despair, my disarray
And I lay them at the roots there and it all just burns away
And I say: God, oh God, oh God, oh God, oh my God, oh my God
The roots move through the soil there like the veins beneath my skin
And autumn comes and like the sun, the firetree burns again
And my troubles turn to cinders and my anger and my pain
And the firetree goes on burning through the wind and through the rain
And I say: God, oh God, oh God, oh God, oh my God, oh my God

Heavenly Bodies
02:42
|
|||
You looked up at the Milky Way and you smiled
You said the stars haven't been this bright in awhile
And as the clouds moved by across the moon
They painted the sky purple and blue
We are heavenly bodies, we know who we are
We are heavenly bodies, we're all filled with stars
We are heavenly bodies, we know who we are
We are heavenly bodies, we're all filled with stars
The stars at night, yeah, they will never see
All the things you always do for me
They have to shine down from so far away
They'll never hear a single word we say
We are heavenly bodies, we know who we are
We are heavenly bodies, we're all filled with stars
We are heavenly bodies, we know who we are
We are heavenly bodies, we're all filled with stars

'Til the Boat Goes Down
02:43
|
|||
I'll love you 'til the boat goes down
If we find an island and we run aground
I will meet you on the shore
And it will be just like before
I will love you 'til the island ain't no more
I will love you 'til we sink into the sea
If we wake up in Atlantis suddenly
I will meet you at the gate
I'll be waiting, don't be late
I will love you 'til Atlantis fades away
I will love you 'til the boat's capsized
Maybe we'll be washed to safety with the tides
Then I will meet you on dry land
We'll walk together hand in hand
I will love you 'til there's nowhere left to stand
I will love you when the boat goes down
I'll swim beside you and I'll hope we never drown
Maybe we'll just learn to fly
Then I'll meet you way up high
I will love you 'til there isn't any sky

Dead Dog
05:37
|
|||
There's a dead dog in the water
And probably he drowned
This endless rain has taught her
How to swallow it all down
And there's moonlight on the river
There's moonlight on the shore
There's nothing I can give her
That she would want anymore
So I walked down to the graveyard
Pressed my head against the stone
Closed my eyes and prayed hard
That she would find her way home
But, no, she won't be returning
No, I know she can't be saved
And though my heart's still burning
She's grown cold here in this grave
We built our little empire
Out of mud and stone
But it crumbled like a vampire
That's stepped out into the sun
But now fog has filled the hollow
And the sun ain't gonna shine
I guess that I should follow her
I guess maybe now's the time
So, I'll lay down right beside her
So I won't have far to roam
And the message that's inscribed there
Says you'll never be alone
So there's a dead dog in the water
Or maybe it's just me
I never have forgot her
And now I'll finally be free
And I
I will fly
And I will find her
Tonight
And she
She'll be waiting
She will find me
We'll be free

Moving (Mountains)
03:40
|
|||
I don't say I'm sorry anymore
I don't hear your footsteps by the door
Moved from a triangle to a square
Please take a message back if you go there
All these waterfalls are in my head
I sleep each night tucked in the riverbed
The mountains wait for me when I get home
It's just me and her, but we're never alone
Smokey mountain, little river
Green green valley, blue blue sky
I don't miss the city anymore
All the towns end right outside my door
I don't buy the things I used to buy
I've got more money now, but I don't mind
I live off rocks and dirts and limbs and leaves
And flowers falling from vending machines
I got out in just the nick of thyme
Now I've been building bridges born of vine
Smokey mountain, little river
Green green valley, blue blue sky

Stormwater
02:45
|
|||
Fall leaves paint the gutter
Orange, red and brown
They're flowing like a river
As the autumn rain comes down
I look into the water and I feel like I could drown
Stormwater, stormwater, stormwater
This bucket's running over
It pours out onto the ground
The raindrops on my rooftop's
Making such a joyfull sound
I look into the water, I feel lost and I feel found
Stormwater, stormwater, stormwater

Ready To Go Home
01:52
|
|||
Well, I've been to the city, yes I've seen the city fair
I've climbed atop its buildings and I've breathed it's smoggy air
It's like some kind of desert made of concrete and steel
And if you were to ask me, then I'd tell you how I feel
Everything's hurry and wait there, and I'm tired to the bone
And there's just too many people and I'm ready to go home
I'm ready to go home, I'm ready to go home
We've been gone for way too long, and I'm ready to go home
We'll I've been on vacation, yes, I've seen most everything
I've been to California and I've been to New Orleans
Now I'm sick of writing letters and just talking on the phone
I wanna see your face dear and I'm ready to go home
I'm ready to go home, I'm ready to go home
We've been gone for way too long, and I'm ready to go home
We've been gone for way too long, and I'm ready to go home

Dogs of September
02:12
|
|||
Do you remember the dogs of September?
They're howling at the autumn moon
And they're barking and scratching and chasing and catching
'Cause they know it will be winter soon
We're getting older and winter gets colder
It seems like every single year
We'll ignore the weather when we are together
Whenever we are warm in here
Don't go away, don't go away
Don't go away, don't go away
When cold turns to spring, it's a beautiful thing
When the flowers raise their head to the light
Soon we'll say goodbye to the 4th of July
When we set fire to the sky for the night
Then comes September, November, December
And then it is another year
And the dogs are still chasing and racing and racing
And pacing 'cause they know no fear
Don't go away, don't go away
Don't go away, don't go away
Don't go away, don't go away
Don't go away, don't go away

Never Leave You
01:13
|
|||
Darling, I'll never leave you
I won't forsake you
I'll never go
Darling, Ill lay this letter
Here at your bedside
So you will know
And in the morning, will you remember
These words I told you
When you're alone
Darling, I'll never leave you
I won't forsake you
I'll never go
